The Justice Development and Peace Centre (JDPC) of Holy Family Catholic Church, Festac has unveiled its inaugural legal clinic in collaboration with Headfort Foundation for Justice.

In a statement by the JDPC on Tuesday, the launch marks the beginning of a transformative collaboration between the JDPC and Headfort Foundation for Justice.

Political Economistng reports that the JDPC is a Faith-based NGO under the Catholic Church, focused on promoting human development and social justice amongst other things.

According to the statement, the coordinator of the organisation, Prince Modestus Osuala said, “At the core of the collaboration lies a shared commitment to enhance access to justice, empower underserved populations, and uphold the rule of law.

In a world where legal complexities often hinder the vulnerable from asserting their rights, this clinic, he said, will serve to provide free professional legal aid/advice, education, and support for those who have been unjustly treated or cannot afford legal services.

“We are deeply honoured to join forces with the Headfort Foundation for Justice, renowned for its unwavering dedication to legal advocacy and reform, and whose impactful community initiatives have uplifted countless lives”.

“Together, we envision a future where justice is not a privilege for the few but a guaranteed right for all.

“This clinic also embodies our collective belief that justice must be accessible, equitable, and inclusive.

The coordinator who called on members of the community to embrace the initiative with enthusiasm and dedication added, “Let us work hand in hand to break down barriers, resolve conflicts, and foster a society where every individual’s rights are recognised and protected.”

“We hope to sustain this programme monthly, while considering various topics under the law as it affects us as we make justice a living reality for many, ” Osuala said.
