The Supreme Court has ruled in favour of the Ahmed Makarfi-led Caretaker Committee of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, returning the former Governor of Kaduna State as the authentic Chairman of the party.
Justice Walter Onnoghen, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, headed the panel that sacked Senator Ali Modu Sheriff and ultimately returned peace to the PDP. By this judgment, all the dust raised by the factions in the party would settle.
Other Judges on the panel are Justice Tanko Muhammad, Justice Bode Rhodes-Vivour, Justice Kayode Ariwoola and Justice Dattijo Muhammad.
Former governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sheriff, who had been laying claim to the PDP National Chairmanship was absent in the Court.
Meanwhile, the camp of Makarfi has been thrown into wild jubilation across the 36 states and Abuja.
