Kano Attorney-General takes over alleged gruesome murder case, vows justice

Mr. Abdulkarim Kabiru-Maude, Kano State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, has taken over the prosecution of the alleged gruesome murder of a housewife and her six children at Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters Kano.

Kano State was on Jan. 17, thrown into fear following the gruesome killing of a housewife, Fatima Abubakar, 35, and her six children by three principal suspects now in police custody.

Briefing Journalists on Monday in Kano, Kabiru-Maude, said that the decision to take-over the prosecution of the case was on the directive of Gov. Abba Kabir-Yusuf.

“The Ministry of Justice has assumed responsibility for prosecuting the case to ensure that justice is served.

“This heinous and inhuman act is a grave affront to humanity and the rule of law.

“On the directive of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, my office will take over the prosecution of this case to ensure that justice is not only done but seen to be done,” he said.

The AG commended the Kano State Police Command for its swift and professional response, which led to the arrest of the suspects in connection with the incident.

He promised that the government would spare no effort in ensuring accountability, transparency and strict adherence to due process throughout the investigation and prosecution of the case.

Kabiru-Maude urged residents to remain calm, vigilant and law-abiding, and to continue to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information that could aid the ongoing investigations.

He added that the Ministry of Justice would provide further updates as investigation and prosecution of the case progressed. (NAN)
