Kano Hisbah arrests 16 over alleged immoral acts

The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested 16 persons over alleged involvement in immoral activities during an operation aimed at promoting moral values in Kano.
The Deputy Commander-General of the board Mujahiddeen Aminudeen, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Kano.
Aminuddeen said the operation was part of the board’s ongoing efforts to sanitise the state and curb acts considered contrary to the cultural and religious values of the people of Kano State.
He said Hisbah operatives subsequently visited some locations, including Elkanemi Suites along Yahaya Gusau Road, BUK Road and Danbare area.
“The operation led to the arrest of 16 suspects, comprising six males and 10 females,” he said.
Aminuddeen explained that investigations conducted by the board revealed that none of the suspects had previously been arrested by the board for any offence.
He said the suspects were counselled and warned against engaging in acts contrary to societal and religious values.
“The suspects pledged to desist from such acts and conduct themselves responsibly,” he said.
According to him, the board released the suspects after obtaining undertakings from them and their guardians.
He added that Hisbah would continue to monitor their activities to ensure compliance with the conditions of their release.
Aminuddeen reiterated the board’s commitment to promoting moral discipline and urged residents to continue supporting its activities by reporting acts capable of undermining societal values. (NAN)
