Lockdown: LASG says mortuaries are full, corpses need to be buried, gives two weeks ultimatum to families to collect corpses

Lagos gives has revealed that mortuaries in the State are now full due to the lockdown and the inability for families to bury their dead.

The was disclosed by governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the COVID-19 media briefing on Saturday in Lagos.

According to Sanwo-Olu, the State is giving two weeks to those who have corpses in mortuaries across the State to retrieve them for burial.

“We’re giving a two weeks window to collect corpses after which the government will have a mass burial for those corpses that have not retrieved.

“This is not a time to wait for a relative who is far away to come before you can have the funeral”.

“We still say that the number of persons at any funeral should not exceed 20, including the officiating officer”.

“There shall be no form of partying and all those who attend should ensure they observe social distancing and wash their hands before and after the funeral,” he said.
