The Guinness World Records has announced a new winner of its longest cooking marathon record, coming barely 5 months after announcing Hilda Baci as winner of the Longest cooking marathon record.

GWR made the announcement on Tuesday on X.

Announcing the new winner, the organisation wrote, ” Nigerian cooking queen Hilda Baci has been dethroned, Alan Fisher from Ireland cooked for an incredible 119 hours and 57 minutes at his restaurant in Japan.

GWR however noted that it was just a rumour that records cannot be broken until after a year, ” records can be broken anytime”!

“First up, he’s claimed the longest cooking marathon (individual) after clocking in a time of 119 hours 57 minutes. That is more than 24 hours longer than the previous record held by Nigerian chef Hilda Baci.

“Alan then claimed the longest baking marathon (individual), with a time of 47 hours 21 minutes. The previous record holder was Wendy Sandner (USA) with a time of 31 hours 16 minutes.

“What’s even more impressive is that Alan took on both attempts back to back, meaning he was at work in the kitchen for over 160 hours with just over a day of rest in between!

Political Economistng reports that on June 13, 2023 the Guinness World Records officially confirmed Hilda Baci, has broken the record for the longest cooking marathon (individual), with a time of 93 hours 11 minutes.

In a statement by GWR it said “Following a thorough review of all the evidence, Guinness World Records can now confirm that Hilda Effiong Bassey, better known as Hilda Baci, has officially broken the record for the longest cooking marathon (individual), with a time of 93 hours 11 minutes.
