Luxury Car Gifts: EFCC Detains Secondus, PDP Deputy Chairman, Party Kicks

Admin February 25, 2016

uche-secundus-3The disquiet in the fold of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is far from over as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Chief Uche Secondus, the Deputy National Chairman of the party over allegations of graft.

He was arrested Wednesday morning over what an EFCC source said was in line with on-going investigations of key political actors in the country who were suspected to have dipped their hands into the public till in the run-up to the 2015 general elections.

“Mr. Secondus is with us now and he is undergoing preliminary interrogation as we speak”, the source told our correspondent.

EFCC sources said Secondus is being investigated and interrogated over at least 30 luxury cars he received from businessman, Mr. Jide Omokore, a close associate of former President Goodluck Jonathan and former Petroleum Resources Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

Meantime, the leadership of the PDP has decried what it termed selective attack on it members in the guise of fighting corruption.
