NAF airstrikes eliminate scores of terrorists in Sambisa, Tumbuns axis of Borno
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai have eliminated scores of terrorists and destroyed key infrastructure in Sambisa Forest and the Tumbuns axis of Borno, NAF spokesperson said in a statement on Friday.
Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, disclosed that the operations targeted terrorists’ enclaves, logistics hubs and fortified hideouts based on credible intelligence.
According to him, NAF aircraft carried out a major air interdiction mission on April 30 at Alafa in the Sambisa axis, where identified terrorist infrastructure and supply nodes were engaged and destroyed.
He added that the air force sustained the offensive on May 1 with another strike on terrorist positions at Metele in the Tumbuns.
“Intelligence and surveillance revealed a fortified island stronghold with entrenched fighters, storage facilities and defensive trench systems.
“NAF aircraft delivered precise strikes on the location, neutralising scores of insurgents and decimating the structure,” he said.
Ejodame noted that the sustained operations were part of a deliberate strategy to maintain continuous pressure on terrorist elements and deny them the ability to regroup.
Aneke reaffirmed the force’s commitment to sustaining high-tempo operations until all terrorist threats were neutralised.
