National Security: Buhari meets with Jonathan, Obasanjo in Aso Rocks

Admin June 4, 2016

PRESIDENT BUHARI RECEIVES FMR PRESIDENT OBASANJOPresident Muhammadu Buhari met with former President Goodluck Jonathan at the state house, in Abuja, on Thursday night, shortly after Dr. Jonathan arrived from Cote d’ Ivoire. The brief night meeting was said to have centred chiefly on the growing crisis in the Niger Delta region caused by the activities of Niger Delta Avengers. Presidency sources said the meeting held at the private residence of the President.

And barely 24 hours after meeting with Jonathan, President Buhari on Friday hosted former President Olusegun Obasanjo inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Obasanjo who wore a white agbada, arrived for the meeting which was held inside the President’s office at about 12.30pm in company of his long-standing friend Otunba Johnson Fasawe.

Obasanjo moved into his car without speaking to the press but Presidency sources said matters of national security including tension in the Niger Delta were discussed. The former President  was said to have  briefed  Buhari on the report of the Eminent Persons Group he presented to the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States Summit of Heads of States which ended in Papua, New Guinea on Wednesday.
