Two photos released by the Presidency on Thursday to prove that President Muhammadu Buhari is “hale and hearty” showed a weak, sick-looking Mr. President. The photos showed the President sharing some moment with Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Chief Bisi Akande, both stalwarts of the ruling APC. They met with the President inside Nigeria House in London.
In one of the pictures, Buhari is seen sitting with both men but looking gaunt, emaciated and weak.The three men are seen standing in one of the photos and seated in the other. The photos, released from the official Presidency Twitter account and also promoted via Facebook by Presidency officials, show Buhari looking a shadow of his former self.
Buhari left Abuja took ten-day vacation in January, which he said he would spend in London and during which he would “undergo routine medical check-ups”. He was to resume work on February 6 but wrote to the National Assembly, informing it that he has extended the vacation indefinitely on the advice of his doctors.
Several top politicians have taken turns to correct the impression that the President was very sick. Speaker Yakubu Dogara said he spoke with President on Wednesday for about five minutes.
