…Sends condolences to the family

Dr. Ahmed Audi, Commandant General (CG) of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has extended condolences to the family of late Assistant Superintendent of Corps (ASC) Victoria Ogbodo, who was fatally crushed during a simulation exercise in Abuja.

The message was conveyed in a statement issued by NSCDC Spokesperson Afolabi Babawale on Sunday.

Ogbodo, a member of the NSCDC Female Strike Force, was accidentally run over by a colleague during a drama presentation by the unit.

The incident occurred at the NSCDC national headquarters during a “Tactical Rescue Operation” simulation depicting the rescue of kidnapped school children.

The exercise marked the 2026 World Civil Defence Day, observed annually by member countries worldwide.

Babawale noted that Ogbodo was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit at Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital in Abuja, but medical efforts to save her proved unsuccessful.

Audi expressed profound shock and prayed for the repose of her soul, extending deepest condolences to her family and all NSCDC officers nationwide.

He has directed a high-level delegation to visit the family.Audi assured a befitting burial and full payment of her post-life benefits.

He appealed to personnel to continue praying for the service, urged them not to be deterred, and stressed strict adherence to safety protocols to prevent future workplace hazards given the corps’ demanding assignments.
