Obaseki quits APC, but faces opposition from PDP

Gov. Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has announced his resignation from All Progressives Congress (APC) after a visit to Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The embattled governor had sought Buhari’s intervention in the political dogfight in Edo which cost him his party nod to contest in the primary.

He will now push his luck with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, which has unofficially welcomed him. But Obaseki will have a huge mountain to climb in the PDP as some of the party faithful in his state are insisting on no automatic ticket for him.

Some PDP members have given stiff conditions under which Obaseki would be considered for the party’s ticket in the upcoming governorship election.
