Pastor Nomthi Odukoya dies at 47

Pastor Nomthi Odukoya, the second wife of Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, founder of Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju, Lagos has died, 16 years after the passing of the first wife, Pastor Bimbo Odukoya on the 10th of December, 2005 via Sosoliso air crash.

An author, child protection expert and family therapist, she died at the age of 47 after battling cancer for two years. Born on May 30, 1974, she died on November 9, 2021.

Pastor Taiwo married Pastor Nomthi, a South African, years after losing Pastor Bimbo, who herself died at the age of 45.

The Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju released a statement on her passage:

“With deep regret and gratitude to God, we have to announce the passing of our Senior Pastor’s wife, Pastor Nomthi Odukoya.

“She battled cancer for the better part of 2 years, she stood on the Word of God, and she fought. We loved her with all our heart, but who are we to fight with the will of God.

“The truth is, at one point in our lives, we all will have to say goodbye. So for now, till we meet again in glory, Goodbye Pastor Nomthi”.

Pastor Taiwo remarried the South African, then Nomthi Rosemary Simangele Zulu, on the 5th of January 2010 (5 years after the passage of Mrs Bimbo Odukoya). Their marriage has produced two sons, Timileyin and Jomiloju.

In an old chat with the Punch Newspapers, the pretty Pastor Nomthi, blessed with two children, said she did not envision marrying a pastor.

“I did not know I was going to serve God in this capacity. I was against it because I thought pastors were responsible for peoples’ lives. I believed it was a burden too much to bear and I did not want to be held accountable if people did not live according to the gospel of Christ. I felt serving God and supporting the gospel in whatever way I could, was enough. I did not see myself in a leadership position in a country other than South Africa for that matter.”
