Peace beckons in PDP as Makarfi, Sheriff initiate peace moves

Admin July 7, 2016

pdp-logoThe end may be in sight for the lingering crisis in the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party as immediate Senator Ali Modu Sheriff and Senator Ahmed Makarfi have commenced negotiations on how to bring peace to the party.

The immediate past national vice chairman of the Party (PDP) for South-South, Dr Cairo Ojougboh who disclosed this at a press conference in Abuja said that the Sheriff’s camp has made its terms for truce known to the Makarfi group through an ‘intermediary’.

Dr Ojougboh who was appointed by Senator Sheriff as deputy chairman however insisted that any negotiation for peace must always consider that ” Sheriff remains the authentic chairman” until a properly constituted convention of the party says otherwise.

He however, declined to give other conditions outlined by Sheriff’s camp for peace to reign in the troubled opposition party, noting that “the conditions for truce are being worked out.”

The former Deputy chairman warned that the contest is not about sheriff remaining as chairman of the party by all means but stopping the reign of impunity in the party and returning power to the people where it rightly belongs. VANGUARD
