The Katsina State Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission has detained a permanent secretary and five other government officials over alleged misappropriation of about N136.1 million.

This is contained in a statement issued by the commission’s Secretary, Alhaji Jamilu Abdulsalam, on Tuesday in Katsina.

He stated that “the commission has arrested former Permanent Secretary of the Department of Banking and Finance who is the current Permanent Secretary, Local Government Service Commission, Alhaji Muheeb Ibrahim, alongside five others.

“The suspects are linked to alleged misappropriation of N136,126,970 from the department’s account.”

Abdulsalam further stated that the commission is investigating the matter to uncover the full details and ensure accountability.

He added that more updates would follow as the investigation is in progress.

According to him, the alleged offence was committed between October 2023 and 2024.

He revealed that the suspects were detained in a facility and would be charged to court for prosecution.
