The police command in Lagos State says it has apprehended eight suspected cultists and armed robbers during a targeted raid at Odogunyan in the Ikorodu area of the state.

The command’s Spokesman , SP Abimbola Adebisi, made this known in a statement on Thursday in Lagos.

She said that the suspects, who were between the ages of 23 and 28, were apprehended about 5:30 a.m. on Monday.

“The operation was carried out by the Bullock Tactical Team following credible intelligence report about criminal activities in the area.

“The team stormed a criminal hideout and apprehended eight suspects allegedly planning nefarious acts.

“Items recovered from them include a Nigerian military camouflage uniform, a battle axe, an assault dagger, several charms, and counterfeit $100 bills amounting to $3,000, ” Adebisi said.

The spokesperson said that during interrogation, one of the suspects confessed to being the leader of the Eiye Confraternity in the area.

She added that the suspect also admitted to have handed over a locally made pistol to his colleague who is now at large.

According to her, efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect and recover the firearm.

The image maker said that the Commissioner of Police, Mr Olohundare Jimoh, praised the operatives for their professionalism and swift action.

Jimoh, while commending the officers, reiterated the command’s commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state.
