The Police Command in Kano, on Wednesday arraigned seven suspects before a Magistrate’s court in Nomansland for allegedly attacking traders at Farm Center Market, and the entourage of a prominent politician, AA Zaura.

During the incident which occurred on April 28, the police were able to apprehend five suspects, and continued with investigation.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO) CSP Abdullahi Haruna-Kiyawa, who disclosed this to newsmen in Kano, said the suspects were standing trial on five-count charge.

The charges were on criminal conspiracy, inciting disturbance, joining unlawful assembly, armed with deadly weapons, and mischief.

He revealed that five suspects were earlier apprehended, and following discreet and intelligence-led investigations, the operatives arrested the two additional suspects.

He revealed that the attack led to the destruction of businesses and properties including a Toyota Ambulance vehicle and a tricycle.

The PPRO assured that a manhunt for the fleeing principal suspect, Mallam Hassan, was ongoing.

He quoted the CP Ibrahim Adamu-Bakori, as commending the public for providing credible information that aided the investigation, and urged residents to continue supporting the Police with timely intelligence to ensure Kano remains safe and peaceful.(NAN)
