Police Arrest Popular Hotelier’s Son over Alleged Murder of Girlfriend

Admin December 29, 2015

Fatai OwoseniA young lady who goes by the name Funke Balogun had high hopes of celebrating the New Year in a big way just as she had celebrated the significant birth of Jesus Christ.

She had wished to enjoy the season with the love of her life – Michael Oyetunji – who was her well known boyfriend. But her dream was cut short when she lost her life in the early hours of Monday the 28th of December 2015.

Surprisingly, the boyfriend she had planned to celebrate the season with was said to be responsible for her untimely death.

According to sources around Balogun Street, Oshodi, Lagos where the sad incident occurred, it was gathered that the deceased as usual passed the night at the boyfriend’s   place. But that sad day, they both decided to sleep over at Michael’s mother’s new hotel that was just commissioned two days ago.

It was gathered that in the middle of the night an argument ensued between the two lovers and before anyone knew what was happening, the boyfriend accidentally knocked Funke Balogun out of consciousness.

At first, he thought it was a child’s play, that his lover would soon come back to life, but it soon dawned on him that she had gone into eternal slumber. It was at this point he called on the mother to see what can be done to salvage the situation.

The mother truly did as expected, not by making the lady come back to life, but by trying to conceal it from the public. She was said to have taken the dead to a mortuary and had also taken his son into safety.

Despite, the community’s and even the family of the deceased’s effort at getting information, the hotelier kept the details to herself. The incident has pitched the community against the mother of the accused.

Michael’s father is popularly known as Yaro around the neighbourhood.

Investigation is still on-going. Lagos Police Commissioner, Fatai Owoseni, in a chat with our Correspondent, confirmed the incident and added that Michael has been arrested and that he was undergoing interrogation.
