The Kebbi Police Command has arraigned one Ibrahim Karaye, 30, male, in connection with the alleged killing of his biological father, Bahago Karaye, aged 50 years.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Kebbi Command, SP Bashir Usman, confirmed this in a statement exclusively made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.

He disclosed that the incident occurred on March 30, at about 5:30 p.m., on a farm in Rakka Village, Birnin Yauri, Yauri Local Government Area of the state.

“The suspect and the deceased were reportedly working together when a disagreement arose between them, which escalated into a physical altercation.

“During the confrontation, the deceased allegedly threw a stick at his son. In reaction, the suspect became enraged, picked up a pestle, and struck his father on the head.

“The victim sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the Birnin Yauri Primary Health Care Centre, where he received treatment and was later discharged.

“However, on April 1, at about 3:30 p.m., the father died at his residence as a result of the injuries sustained,” he said.

According to the police spokesman, the suspect is therefore being charged to court accordingly for prosecution. (NAN)
