The Police Command in Lagos State has detained two suspected armed robbers
terrorising residents around Shoprite Ikeja and the Maryland axis.

The command spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed this in a statement on Thursday in Lagos.

She said the suspects of ages 24 and 32, who were part of a three-man gang operating with a motorcycle, were caught while dispossessing unsuspecting residents of their valuables.

“The police responded to a distress call on Sept. 29 at about 7:15 p.m., which led to the apprehension of two members of the gang, while the third suspect escaped.

“The operational motorcycle used by the gang was recovered as an exhibit, ” she said.

Adebisi said that preliminary investigation revealed that the three-man gang came from Mushin area of the state to carry out their criminal activities in Ikeja, before luck ran out on them.

According to her, investigation is being intensified to apprehend the third suspect now at large.

The image maker said the apprehended suspects are currently in custody, while efforts were ongoing to track down the other members of the gang.

She said that all the suspects involved would be prosecuted on conclusion of investigations.

The spokesperson said that the Commissioner of Police, Mr Olohundare Jimoh, commended the operatives for their swift intervention and appreciated members of the public whose cooperation made the arrests possible.

“CP Jimoh, while commending officers, reassures residents of the command’s unwavering commitment to rid the state of criminal elements.

“CP urges residents to continue to provide timely and credible information to the police for effective crime prevention and control,” Adebisi said.
