Rainstorm has hit Kuli Community in Kubau Local Government Area of Kaduna affecting a school and 150 households.

Mr. Mubarak Zakari, Director of Disaster Relief at the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (KADSEMA), made the disclosure to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Kaduna.

Zakari said that while some houses were damaged, others were completely destroyed by the rainstorm.

According to him, the disaster, which occurred on Thursday, resulted in extensive damage to the community Primary Health Care Centre, a school and several residential buildings.

He said the figures emerged during a joint assessment by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (KADSEMA).

“Some houses were damaged while others were completely destroyed by the storm.

“The assessment is aimed at determining the extent of the damage and generating data for response planning.

“The assessment is part of ongoing efforts by NEMA and relevant stakeholders to provide accurate information for response planning and support in the affected communities,” he said.

The assessment team was led by Mr. Abbas Hamisu of NEMA’s Relief and Rehabilitation Unit.

Other members included officials of KADSEMA, Kubau Local Government Council and community leaders.

The exercise forms part of efforts by emergency management agencies to support victims and strengthen disaster response in affected communities.(NAN)
