University of Lagos:
The Federal Government has lifted restriction on worship centres but says it must be done based on Covid-19 safety protocols released by each state. Mr Boss Mustapha, Chairman of the Task Force ,PTF, announced this Monday at the daily briefing on Covid-19. But schools are to remain closed till further notice.
Nationwide curfew remains in place but timing is now 10pm—4am. Other highlights include:
Full opening of financial sector to normal working hours
Restricted opening of places of worship, (regular church & mosque services ONLY), to be based on State Govt protocols.
Interstate travel remains prohibited except for goods and essential travel
Gathering of more than 20 persons remains prohibited outside of workplaces and religious services
Aviation Industry requested to start developing protocols for domestic flights to possibly resume from June 21
Hotels may reopen but with adherence to safety protocols.
Restaurants outside of hotels must remain closed for eat-in—Takeout Only
Bars, gyms, cinemas, nightclubs, parks closed until further evaluation
All schools to remain closed until further evaluation
Offices maintain 2m physical distancing and not more than 75% max capacity
Meanwhile, the PTF says Nigeria is yet to reach the “peak” of COVID-19 infections.
The chairmen of PTF and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Mr Boss Mustapha , disclosed this at the COVID-19 daily news conference on Monday in Abuja.
He said it was necessary to restate to the citizenry, that Nigeria had not reached the peak of confirmed cases, adding that the battle against COVID-19 was a long term battle.
He urged Nigerian to pursue a strategy that would aid the sustainable control of the spread of the disease, stressing that risk communications and community engagement should remain a top priority.
He added that precision approached to containment and management should be adopted based on the overall assessment, including available data on the public health considerations and resultant economic impacts.
