Terrorists may attack Lagos hotels this holiday, US warns
Those visiting popular hotels in Lagos this holiday have been warned to be exercise extra vigilance. The United States on Tuesday warned of likely attacks against hotels in Lagos especially those frequented by expatriates and foreign visitors. The attacks may happen in days. The Eid-el-Fitri public holiday has been extended till Thursday.
“The US Mission in Nigeria advises that groups associated with terrorist activity might be planning attacks against hotels in Lagos frequented by international visitors, including those located on waterfronts, during the Eid-al-Fitr holidays,” the embassy said in an advisory.
The warning was posted on the embassy’s website.
Lagos has been insulated from terror attacks since insurgency broke out in the north east but Nigerians have always been apprehensive of the possibility of the megapolis being attacked especially since Abuja with all its security has come under severe attacks in recent years.
