Donald Trump, the oldest person to be inaugurated the US president, has completed his annual medical check up but this has sparked global alarm, with some reports alluding to some health challenges resulting in his ‘over weight’ status.

However, his doctor says the US president is in “excellent health” in obvious dismissal of viral rumour of ill-health. Trump will be 80 years old on June 14, barely two weeks hence.

Trump was at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for the medical check and the doctor, Capt Sean Barbabella, says the president has “strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological and overall physical function”, in a statement released by the White House.

Trump himself writing on his Truth Social platform afterwards said “everything checked out perfectly”.

On Trump’s weight and the bruise on his hand, Barbabella said he was “fully fit to carry out all duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State”.

The report says Trump was “within normal limits” on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, a common test of cognitive health, scoring a 30 out of 30, according to the memo, external.

Deemed overweight at 238lb (108kg), having gained 14lb (6.3kg) since his medical exam in April 2025, Barbabella said the president had been given guidance on diet, physical activity and continued weight loss, and was on medication to control his cholesterol.

Trump’s resting heart rate was 73 beats per minute, according to the memo, and his cardiac age was estimated to be approximately 14 years younger than his chronological age.

“His demanding daily schedule, including multiple high-level meetings, public engagements and regular physical activity continues to support his overall well-being,” Barbabella wrote in the report.
