Two brothers jailed one year each for assaulting female police officer

An Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo state, on Wednesday sentenced two brothers to one year imprisonment each for assaulting a female Police Officer .

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olabisi Ogunkanmi, sentenced Kabiru Jimoh and Ahmed Jimoh after they pleaded guilty to assault

The police charged the Jimoh brothers with conspiracy, obstruction of duty, threat to life and assault.

Ogunkanmi did not give the convicts an option of fine.

She also ordered the convicts to pay N50,000 each as compensation to the complainant

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, PC Olapeju Durodola, alleged that the brothers obstructed a police officer, Helen Ojo, who was on lawful duty to recover a child over paternity issues

She alleged that the brothers beat up Ojo and threatened to harm her with a broken bottle.

The prosecutor alleged that Ojo sustained injuries as a result of the incident.

The offenc, the police said contravened the provisions of section 197, 252, 351, 356 (2) and 516 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State 2000.(NAN)
