Ubulu Support Group Pledges Support for Okowa’s Re-election

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa

With a pledge to work for the reelection of Delta State governor, Sen. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, the Ubulu Support Group, a political platform for the towns and communities that comprise Ubulu clan, was inaugurated at the weekend in Ubulu-Uku.

The clan includes Ubulu-Uku, Ubulu-Unor, Ubulu-Okiti and other communities in Aniocha South Local Government Area.

Addressing a gathering of representatives of the communities at the weekend, convener of the group, Mr. Byron Unini, said the clan has benefitted tremendously from Okowa’s administration beyond the attention they have got from previous administrations.

“From education to roads and youth empowerment, every part of Ubulu clan has been touched by Okowa’s SMART agenda. As our son who we have every reason to be proud of, it is our duty to ensure that every vote is for Okowa in the coming governorship election,” Unini told delegates from the clan at the meeting at Ubulu Primary School.

He said a skill acquisition centre built at the school by Okowa will soon come on stream as construction work on the road linking Ubulu Unor with Ubulu-Uku and Ogwashi-Uku has already begun.

Unini said the group is committed to the reelection of Okowa and giving maximum support to his administration. Other objectives, according to him, include:

  • Mobilising the clan’s population on the need to collect their permanent voter cards (PVCs) and to vote for Okowa.
  • Providing a united political platform for the clan and
  • Ensuring the development of the clan under the Okowa administration.

Also addressing the gathering, the vice chairman of Aniocha South Local Government Area, Hon. Joseph Ikenwe, said Ubulu clan has the population to give Okowa the largest number of votes in council. Noting that politics being a game of numbers, the clan stands to attract further development by ensuring that the governor is returned to Government House in 2019.

Representatives of the communities in Ubulu clan endorsed the resolution to embark on voter education to ensure that every vote in the 2019 governorship election in the clan is for Okowa and to appoint coordinators in every ward in all the communities towards the objective. The meeting also resolved to forge a united front for the clan by meeting every interest group to resolve every area of disagreement.

They also commended Okowa for appointing Chief Joe Utomi as commissioner and for other developmental projects in the clan. Youth groups were mandated to spearhead the mobilisation of eligible voters on the collection and safe-keeping of PVCs.

Delegates at the meeting include Mr. Moses Eluemunor who led the delegates from Ubulu-Unor, Mr. Pius Eziashi who was team leader for Ubulu-Okiti, Mr. Solomon Ojeah, councilor representing Ward 5 in Aniocha South LGA and Comrade Charles Enyi, president of Ubulu-Uku Youths Association.
