The Police Command in Osun on Wednesday said it had intensified security measures across the state to combat criminality during the Christmas festivities.

The Spokesperson of the command, DSP Folashade Odoro, said in a statement that the command had enhanced intelligence gathering, visible vehicular and foot patrols.

Odoro said that the command was also undertaking thorough stop-and-search exercises to deny hoodlums freedom of action.

“The security measures are part of strategies to checkmate criminal activities, before, during and after the festive season.

“Meanwhile, the exercise, which is ongoing all over the state, is a proactive and preventive measure aimed at ensuring adequate protection of lives and property of all law-abiding residents in the state,’’ he said.

The spokesman said that as part of community policing, relevant information from other security agencies and public would be of immense assistance.

He urged all residents to cooperate with police personnel that had been detailed for the exercise.

“Members of the public are hereby notified that officers have been thoroughly warned to desist from any unprofessional acts,’’ Odoro added.
