Police nabs “one chance”, robbery  syndicate linked to murder of lawyer

The Nigeria Police Force, FCT Command, has nabbed three notorious “one-chance” armed robbery suspects linked to the brutal murder of Abuja-based legal practitioner, Barrister Princess Chigbo Nwamaka Mediatrix.

A statement by the force on Monday states that the arrests followed a directive by the Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Miller Dantawaye, ordering an intensive manhunt for all those connected to the chilling crime and similar attacks across the Federal Capital Territory.

Operatives of the Command’s Scorpion Squad, led by ACP Victor Ogbeide Godfrey, deployed digital intelligence to track the victim’s mobile phone, leading to coordinated raids in Dei-Dei, Dakwa and Dan-Tata communities in Kubwa.

The operation led to the arrest of three suspects Saifullahi Yusuf (22), Ishau Yusuf (24), who are brothers, and Minka’ilu Jibril, alias Dan-Hajia all natives of Kaduna State and confirmed members of a notorious “one-chance” robbery syndicate.

Investigations revealed that on January 5, Barrister Chigbo boarded the suspects’ black Volkswagen Golf 3 along the Kubwa Expressway, unaware she had entered a criminal trap.

The suspects allegedly wound up the tinted windows, threatened her with weapons and demanded ransom. When she resisted, she was violently assaulted and pushed her out of the moving vehicle, leading to her tragic death.

The gang confessed to selling her Android phone for ₦120,000 and sharing the proceeds among themselves. Police also recovered weapons and restraints believed to have been used in their operations.

“As efforts intensify to arrest a fourth suspect still at large, CP Dantawaye commended the operatives and reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to crushing criminal syndicates.

He urged residents to remain vigilant, avoid suspicious vehicles, and report emergencies through 08032003913 or 07057337653.
