Obi of Ubulu-Uku goes tough against dissidents, says Asika Onwordi remains suspended

Umunnem, Chiefs, elders, and all beloved sons and daughters of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom here at home and in the diaspora, Warmest greetings to you all. Ekenem unu niné.
It is with great joy that I once again address you in this ancient and most noble kingdom. Since my last address, much has happened within our community. Rest assured, I have never been detached from the affairs of this kingdom. I have remained fully engaged through the proper and recognised channels of authority.
As you will recall, during my last visit, I constituted the Interim Reconciliation and Caretaker Committee (IRCC), chaired by an accomplished scholar and distinguished son of this Kingdom, Prof. Goodwill Ofunne, with a clear mandate to restore order and transparently conduct the elections for the new leadership of the Ubulu-Uku Development Council (UDC). I wish to take this opportunity to thank Prof. Ofunne and the members of his Committee for their exceptional dedication so far. I am pleased with the resilience and the innovative methods employed in discharging this responsibility.
Today, I am delighted to announce that the UDC election has been successfully concluded, and we now have Mr. Henry Okwudishu as the new National President. I extend my congratulations to the entire leadership team. However, this victory isn’t just about winning; it is an invitation for everyone to serve with greater dedication, guided by love and a strong sense of patriotism for the peace and prosperity of Ubulu-Uku. Moving forward, the UDC executive’s mission is to unite our people, restore trust, and steer Ubulu-Uku towards positive and progressive development. I will be working closely with the UDC, and I look forward to seeing commitment, transparency, discipline, service, and unwavering loyalty from all involved.
Please, let me be clear, as your Obi, I remain steadfast in my belief that peace and justice must reign supreme in Ani Ubulu, for without justice, there can be no lasting peace. As the LORD liveth, this throne will not condone wrongdoing in the name of tolerance. Good behaviour shall be recognised, and misconduct will be met with appropriate sanctions where necessary. Justice, equity, and order remain the pillars and symbols of this throne.
I wish to acknowledge the improvement in the security situation since my last address. However, the recent tragic incident that claimed the life of our son, Mr. Emmanuel Ekwunwa of Udo village, is
deeply painful. My heartfelt condolences go to his family. Such a heinous act is unacceptable and must not be allowed to persist. The right to Life is fundamental and inalienable to all sons and daughters
of this Kingdom, and it requires government protection. I have received assurances of the government’s commitment to tackling this menace decisively, and we shall continue to work with relevant authorities to safeguard our land.
Regarding the suspension of Mr. Asika Onwordi, the suspension remains in force until officially revoked by my throne.
Concerning the forced entry into the Royal Palace, such incivility is entirely incompatible with the culture and traditions of Ubulu-Uku. It is extremely shameful. Such an act of defiance and desecration is an everlasting reproach to the perpetrators. The Royal Palace is a sacred estate. I assure you all that precise guidelines for access to the Palace and its grounds will be issued shortly and strictly enforced. Violations
will not be tolerated. The Royal Palace is a revered ground and a cherished heritage of the Kingdom.
THE PALACE SECRETARIAT
Today, I am pleased to formally introduce
Prince George Ofulue as the Palace Secretary and the Secretary to the Ubulu-Uku Traditional Council. Before you all, I charge him to serve with unwavering loyalty, integrity and diligence. God Almighty will grant him the grace and wisdom to excel. Prince George Ofulue succeeded Bar. Joseph Obaze. Accordingly, on behalf of the Royal
Family and the Traditional Council, I wish to acknowledge with gratitude, Bar. Joseph Obaze’s decades of dedicated service to the Palace and the Ubulu-Uku Traditional Council. As he enjoys his well deserved rest, I pray that the God of my ancestors will bless and keep him in good health and sound mind. I am sure he will avail the Throne of his services whenever needed. Daalu shinné.
To those chiefs who have strayed from the expectations of the
Throne, I hereby remind you that your duty is loyalty and obedience to the OBI. It is not in your interest to challenge the OBI or to engage in acts that demean the dignity of the Royal Palace. Your public
conduct must reflect the honour of the title you hold, and you must present yourselves as worthy representatives of the AGBOGIDI at all times. Chiefs are men of honour and good character. Please be aware that from now on, any chief who acts against my authority will face appropriate sanctions.
In addition, to avoid any doubt, I must clarify that no chieftaincy title conferred by the Obi of Ubulu-Uku is gazetted by the Delta State Government or any other governmental body. The claim that any
such title has been gazetted is entirely false and deceitful. I therefore appeal for decorum in all our conduct.
To all the Chiefs who have continued to be steadfast, I want to thank you for your unwavering support and loyalty to the Throne, and I will continue to work with Chiefs who embrace peace and remain loyal to the Throne.
Furthermore, I wish to use this opportunity to sincerely appreciate
His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his tireless efforts in ensuring peace, security, and development across our dear state. Whilst we look forward to the
unfolding of his developmental projects in our Kingdom, I call on all
sons and daughters of Ubulu-Uku to please avail his administration of
our collective and unflinching support.
Finally, I wish to reiterate that unity, peace, and justice, flowing from love and respect, are essential virtues for a prosperous Kingdom.
Whilst renewing my pledge to be more physically present at home, please be assured that I am never absent from the throne.
My love for each one of you and for this blessed Kingdom, Ubulu-Uku,
remains supreme.
Let’s move forward together in unity, embracing everyone as a team.
Let’s rebuild trust.
Let’s cherish and protect our wonderful heritage together.
Let’s work together to build a brighter future.
Long live Ubulu-Uku Kingdom.
Long live Delta State.
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
