In a bid to actualise the growing status of Asaba as the primary urban growth hub for Delta State and the service anchor for surrounding industrial zones, the Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty, Prof. Epiphany Azinge, is meeting investors and corporate Nigeria in Lagos to showcase the opportunities in the ancient city.
The meeting scheduled for March 29 at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos is with the theme “Asaba: The strategic gateway to Nigeria’s next economic powerhouse”. With a state-led industrial framework built on Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) and risk sharing, the Asaba monarch’s “Evening with corporate Nigeria” will showcase the Delta State capital city as the “inevitable gateway
linking the South-East, South-South, and South-West markets”.
One of the major attractions for investors Prof. Azinge will unveil before the business community is the Asaba Waterfront City, a major 999,999 square meter, Grade A mixed-use development modern, tech-driven city along the River Niger.
The project is already under construction with projected completion between 2028 and 2030, featuring advanced infrastructure, flood control, and premium residential and commercial spaces.
There are also the Asaba Ultra Modern Mall as well as the International Conference Centre, projects that have become imperative with rapid population inflow and an expanding middle income workforce.
The International conference Centre whose construction is also ongoing is a multidimensional complex that provides the necessary environment for large scale conferences and meetings. To complement the complex and ensure its sustainability, support facilities like restaurants, meeting rooms, a cultural centre and offices are also provided.
The complex comprises a 1,500-seater auditorium, 1,000 capacity ultramodern Banquet Hall with combined concourse, and additional 11 meeting rooms of different capacities.
The monarch, a one-time director general of the Nigerian Institute for Advanced Legal Studies, is using the meeting to create a dedicated platform for direct engagement with stakeholders, relationship building and deal origination.
The projects, especially the ones already under construction are part of a broader vision to enhance the capital city, complementing other developments like the Asaba Mall and upgrading the overall urban landscape. The meeting with the monarch is a convergence of culture and capital-focused dialogue on development opportunities and partnerships connected to Asaba’s growing economy.
Asagba Azinge is projecting the new status of Asaba and its positioning as a state capital which exposes it to the provision of prime infrastructural amenities as the next best haven for Nigeria’s business community.
The Maryam Babangida Park and Film Village which has become a one-stop centre for Nollywood will be highlighted by Asagba Azinge as Nigeria’s equivalent of Hollywood.
In the area of agriculture and agro-business, the development and coming on stream of Onitsha River Port as well as the emergence of Asaba Airport as one of the few viable airports with scheduled local and international connections will be at the core of the Asaba monarch’s presentation on the availability of a Clement economic environment.
In the area of real estate, measures had been introduced by the royal palace to ensure that all encumbrances in access to land for real estate development have been removed. The royal palace leveraged on the symphony between the Asaba traditional stool and the state government to eliminate areas of controversy in access to land. Essentially, the palace ensures that lands are free from touts masquerading as toll gate collectors and agents. The interface with the state government has set the stage for a high level of development and upgrade of infrastructure within the capital territory which Prof. Azinge will flaunt in guaranteeing the continuous upgrade of facilities.
