LASG TO LAUNCH “Q4 LAGOS INITIATIVES” TO PROMOTE LOCAL TOURISM

September 9, 2022

The Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, in collaboration with tourism-related Government Agencies, Hospitality Practitioners and other Stakeholders, is set to launch a programme tagged: “Q4 – Lagos Initiatives” on Wednesday 21st September, 2022, to improve awareness of local tourism potentials and promoting traditional activities that abound in the State, especially during the ember months.

A release signed by the Honourable Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf, said the Ministry recognises the need to leverage the trend of appeal in domestic tourism and encourage Nigerians to observe their holidays in the country like some foreigners, who regularly visit Lagos State to enjoy its abundant tourist sites and festivities.

Akinbile-Yussuf disclosed further that the ‘Q4-Lagos Initiative’ was inspired by the famous slogan “Eko For Show” among many Nigerians and should be seen as a call out to the global industry that Lagos is ready to entrench her prime position as the destination of choice for tourism, hospitality, events and holidays.

“The objectives of the initiative include selling Lagos to the world through a designed permanent merchandising marketing social platform to optimise revenue generation opportunities for the economy; collate comprehensive data of events during the holidays period and determine the number of inbound tourists for the industry while maintaining standards to meet global quality demands”, she noted.

According to the Commissioner, the concept is expected to deliver high value for fun lovers as the Ministry will partner with relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to encourage more Lagosians to partake and experience various events put together by private organisers and particularly designed to celebrate some of the seasonal festivities.

Her words: “For us to deliver on this mandate, all event organisers are expected to get a clearance from the Ministry of Tourism without paying anything to enable the Government plan and monitor these events.

Hospitality Practitioners, Event Organisers and Tourism Establishments are also expected to obtain Event Clearance. The Ministry will also collaborate with Security Agencies and Safety Commission to ensure hitch-free events”.

“We are poised to deliver a data-driven, three-month calendar activity establishing Lagos as the preferred destination for the season and the end of the year holidays”, she said.
