PEPC Judgment: Lawyers, journalists doze off inside courtroom

Lawyers sleep in court

Images of lawyers and journalists and others dozing off during the ongoing Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) proceedings at the Court of Appeal in Abuja have triggered giggles and taunts from social media users.

The sleep bug was non-partisan as some lawyers appearing for all the political parties an litigants were caught napping while the justices read out the judgments.

However, some Nigerians on social media  attributed the marathon and pervasive sleep to supernatural forces, for others it showed that the people in the courtroom  were bored by “long grammar’ by the Justices.

Yet, some said it showed lack of faith in the judiciary and non-approval of the judgment..

Prominent Nigerians including Vice President Kashim Shettima, National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe, Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti, and other top politicians, were among the people in the crowded courtroom.
