At least 10 ships have berthed at Lagos ports, awaiting discharge of petroleum products and others cargoes.

The vessels are currently at Lekki, Tin Can Island and Apapa ports, handling strategic imports for industrial, diplomatic and consumer use.

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) disclosed this in its latest shipping position report released on Thursday in Lagos.

According to the authority, the arriving vessels are laden with fertiliser, repairs, diesel, gasoline, petrol, bulk gypsum, bulk sugar and bulk fertiliser

The report also showed that 33 additional ships were expected at Apapa, Lekki and Tin Can Island ports.

The vessels are scheduled to arrive between May 21 and May 29 with petroleum products, food supplies and other merchandise.

According to the authority, incoming cargoes include buckwheat, containers, fresh fish, crude oil and bulk wheat.

Other consignments listed include petrol, base oil,  crude oil, bulk gas, condensate, bulk salt, repairs, iron ore, bulk gas, gasoline , aviation fuel, diesel general cargo and petrol.

“Shipping activities across the ports remain active, with both liquid and dry cargoes arriving steadily,” the authority stated.

The report further revealed that 27 ships are currently discharging cargoes at the ports.

The vessels are handling containers, petrol, aviation fuel, crude oil, bulk fertilizer, petrol, diesel, bulk sugar, bulk clinker, fresh fish, gasoline, wheat, bulk urea and frozen fish.

Industry stakeholders said the steady traffic reflected sustained commercial activity across the nation’s busiest maritime gateways.
