Nigerian Idol season 8 winner Victory Gbakara’s father speaks on son’s character

Archbishop Solomon Oghenesuvwetoba Gbakara, the father of Victory Gbakara, winner of Nigerian Idol season 8 has given insight into the character of his sensational singer son.

Appearing on stage at the grand finale of the event on Sunday with his wife, Dr. Julien Ogheneochuko Gbakara, the founder and General Overseer of God’s Will Mission Inc. described Victory as focused and determined.

“He is someone who sets a goal for himself and goes ahead to achieve it,” he told host of the programme, Ikponmwosa Osakioduwa, popularly known as IK.

Victory Gbakara emerged winner of the show, walking away with N100m grand prize.

Gbakara, 26, gets N35m cash prize with a brand new SUV, one year supply of Bigi drinks, a week get-away holiday to Cape Town, South Africa, one year supply of WAW detergent among other prizes.

Victory was rated by viewers, judges and co-contestants as someone with very good vocal range and stage charmer who connects with the audience with his charm and charisma.

Performances on the live show were judged by the viewers who hold the power to retain and evict contestants through their votes.

After five weeks of audition and theatre week performances, 10 contestants were adjudged best performers by the trio of Obi Asika, D’banj and Simi.

The season 8 Top 10 contestants were: Savvy Henry; Constance; Goodness; Abraham; Quest; Precious Mac, Victory; Reigny; Ose Daniel, and Chisom.

Precious Mac and Victory Gbakara emerged top 2 contestants out of the last 10.

Victory Gbakara who is a lawyer, poet, singer and song writer and hails from Delta state is a graduate of Benson Idahosa University.

He started singing at the tender age of nine and was part of a choir group, where he honed his singing skills. He once said his parents got him into singing.
